Bob (Robert H.) Morris passed away on the 26th of June. He once said to me that "Defcon is good stuff. But that lock picking is bad shit; stay away from it." He said that his time at Bell Labs was the happiest time of his life and related stories to me about the creation (and his domination) of the game "Core Wars" also known as "Darwin" (one of the earliest examples of adversarial code development that I have found in my research). He also said that after he earned his second star for his contributions to the first Gulf War, that he could no longer sleep. His job was, in part, to calculate how many people would die if we evacuated casualties to Germany versus Guantanamo. He will be missed.
